Handmade Valentine Workshop with Pressed Flowers

from $25.00

Date: Saturday, February 8th

Time and Place: 1 - 3 pm at Wild Heart Farm

When is the last time you made a valentine? I remember the heartfelt effort I put into each one—in third grade I drew a giraffe with a conversation cloud that read “I’d stick my neck out for you!” A friend from that time still reminds me how hurt he was when he did not receive a card (I think it was a passive aggressive move to punish him for being mean to me). Perhaps even those we perceive as “mean people” have hearts that could be softened with a valentine.

Each and every one of us could benefit from a handwritten reminder that we are loved. Flowers are the perfect messengers. In the winter when the garden sleeps, preserved pressed flowers from the growing season will awaken your imagination, and artful, playful soul. Regardless of age or experience, this heart-centered craft session will lift your spirits and help to meet yourself and the world with a spirit of tenderness.

The flower of loving kindness is generated naturally from within us when we nurture the seeds. We will begin with a short meditation, and a poem to settle in. The workshop will explore simple collage techniques—how to arrange pressed flowers, vintage elements and messages with typewritten words, stamps, stickers and cut outs. We will also demonstrate how to make your own envelope from recycled materials.

The workshop includes all the supplies and inspiration to make original valentine cards for yourself, a beloved and even a stranger. Our collective creativity will send waves of love into the world.

Your Guides

Wild Heart resident poet and floral artist, Kate Watters, will be joined by special guest Dani Baker. Dani is a botanical artist, flower gardener, florist, quilter and all around crafty genius.

Ticket includes materials to make 1-3 cards (time allowing), a chocolate treat and herbal tea.
Children under 15 are welcome to attend for $25 if accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are limited to 10 people, so reserve your seat today!

Details and directions will be emailed to upon registration.
View our workshop guidelines and refund policies.

Disclaimers—I understand I am coming to a farm, which assumes inherent risk. Weather permitting we will work at our outdoor craft tables. In the case of rain or cold, we will set up inside our small Sheshed, which will be close quarters. Only composting toilets are available on site. We have two loving farm dogs who never want to miss a party
