Diy Wedding Flowers

We love to provide bulk flowers so you can design beautiful floral arrangements for your wedding or special event. Wild Heart Farm’s Bulk Botanicals option can be a budget friendly and fun option for a bride (or a family member or friend) who has the time and talent to create their own flower designs. Before you decide if this is right for you we encourage you to explore what it takes to make this successful and FUN!

Flower Pickup

Send a trusted family member to our farm one day before the event to pick up your flowers. You will need to bring 5 - gallon buckets to transport them. If you don’t have these, we will add on $10 per bucket and you can use ours.

Time

Do you have enough of it? The week of your wedding can be a frenzy for many couples, and it is easy to underestimate the time it takes to make your floral designs. It may require a couple days from flower pickup and preparation to final set up and placement at your event. Make sure you have enough time set aside—and help—to complete the tasks at hand.

People Power

Make sure you have enough help to put together the arrangements. Floral design for weddings is not something you want to do alone—especially if this is your first time arranging. We typically have a team of 2-3 experienced designers working on a wedding for at least one day before the wedding.

Tools and Workspace

You will need heavy-duty snips or floral shears (regular scissors will not cut it—haha!) Not to mention other key supplies such as ribbon, corsage pins, floral wire, etc. Make sure you have a designated workspace to create your designs. You will a cool, ideally air-conditioned room with a big table surface with access to water. Floral design is messy, so make sure its okay if the space gets wet and dirty from all the cut leaves and stems. (Or you have a good cleanup team!)

Transport

If you are doing the design work somewhere other than the event space, you will need to figure out how to safely pack and transport the vases filled with flowers and water. It is also important that the flowers stay cool the entire time, so an air conditioned vehicle with plenty of space is important to have.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I order?

Please complete our contact form by indicating your interest in Bulk Botanicals. We will confirm our availability for your date and estimate number of buckets needed. Once confirmed, we ask for a 50% deposit for your order. The balance will be due two weeks before your wedding.

What are the Bulk Botanical options and prices?

Bulk Bucket color-toned.jpg

The number of stems per bucket will vary depending on the varieties in bloom at the time of your event. We estimate approx. 60-85 stems of a mix of flowers and greenery per bucket.
We have three options:
Farmer’s Choice Buckets are mixed colors of whatever varieties are in season -$120
The color palates available are blushy pastels or bold and saturated. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate specific color palettes we just do our best with what we have in season.
Greenery Buckets are a mix of hardy greens for table decor - $85

Can I request specific flowers?

If you have specific requests for flower varieties we will do our best to accommodate you, but bulk botanicals are seasonal in nature and reflect whatever is most abundant on our farm at that time. Some premium flowers will be part of your bucket, but if you have specific requests you should order them by the bunch. We can provide a price list for you.

How many arrangements can be made with each bucket?

It depends on the size of your vases. Typically you could make 5-7 quart-sized mason jars depending on how lush you make them. A bridal bouquet typically has 35-45 flowers and greenery stems.

How long will the flowers last?

This varies with each variety, but most will last a week or more if cared for properly. The exception are dahlias; they typically last only 4 - 5 days. We recommend refrigerating your flowers for maximum beauty and freshness. However, most people don’t have access to a large cooler, so store them in an air conditioned room or basement, out of direct sunlight and away from food, children and pets.

Flower pickup and transport

For Saturday weddings, most clients pick up flowers on Thursday mornings, but with enough advanced notice, we can accommodate your schedule. NOTE: Flowers should be treated like living things! Transport them in an air-conditioned vehicle with ample space and seats that fold down flat. Flowers cannot be transported in the back of pickup trucks or in the trunk of a car! If you don’t have access to the appropriate vehicle you can arrange (at least two weeks in advance) for us to deliver your flowers. Delivery fees vary depending on the distance.

Buckets!

We ask that you provide your own buckets, so we can keep ours for our farm! 5-gallon buckets, wastebaskets and plastic storage bins all work well, as long as they are extremely clean. If you absolutely cannot bring buckets we will charge $5 per bucket for us to supply you.

Vase Rental

We have a collection of vintage vases in assorted colors for rental $1 each. These generally hold 3-5 stems of flowers and greenery per vase, and are perfect for sprinkling bursts of color down a harvest table, or on a buffet table or bar.
