Gardens of Words:
Poetry Field Trips at Wild Heart Farm

Ages 8 – 14 |Tuesdays 1:30 - 3:30pm
Four Sessions | Sept 15 · Sept 29 · Oct 13 · Nov 10

Program Overview

Poetry is a new language — one we learn by giving our full attention to the world around

us. We'll play and practice together in a non-linear way, slowing down to notice: flowers,

birds, weather, the turning seasons. Every poem is a different door we can open onto the

natural world.

What Children Will Explore

  • Word storms — collecting language on walks around the farm

  • Poetry tricks — rhyme, rhythm, line length

  • The cauldron — imagery and metaphor

  • Poetry forms — haiku, free verse, and others

  • Collage — Vintage typewriters, and pressed flowers

Each session includes hands-on activities, stories or songs, nature observation, and a take-home reflection or handout.

This is a student-centered enrichment activity, drop-off your child or stay and relax while we create.
Drop-ins welcome if there is space.
