Honoring All the Mothers
The recent rain has infused spring with certain magic. The voluptuous peonies greet the damp mornings refreshed. It quenches the soul to see the lavish way they soak it up. Seeds we had given up on are sprouting–-waiting as they do for the perfect moment to emerge (as are the weeds!). All of the green life and beauty on the farm is keenly placed alongside our grief facing each day without our mother, especially on Mother’s Day.
Remembering, recognizing and celebrating all the ways we have been mothered can be very healing.
Our dear mom, Bonnie Watters, crossed over to the other side on April 7, 2025. She was a creative force in the world and a nurturer of family and her community. We have a lump in our throats about this holiday, and suspect many others who have lost a mom, are estranged from their mom, or had to mother themselves may feel this loss. Mother’s Day can feel confusing, disorientating and sad to some of us. We wanted to offer some ways to honor and celebrate mothers and take care of yourself.
Take a moment to recognize all the ways you can keep the love flowing.
Remember Mother Earth is your original mother. She is always loving you with food, fresh air, water, beauty and life. Lay down and receive. Close your eyes. Breathe into her solid force of love.

Ways to honor Mom:
Plant a garden and tend to something greater. Our CSA garden starter kits are specially curated (now dahlia bags come in small size too). Kate can be your garden coach if you need some help along the way.
Donate to the Mother Garden or come to a work party. Let us plant something lasting and nourishing together.
Book a rest day at the farm. We collaborate to find the right restful activities such as: bouquet making or pressed flower art, a flower meditation, or creating a flower essence especially for you. The flowers want you to stop and enjoy them. They have so much wisdom to offer us when we just slow down and listen.
Give her a bouquet of flowers. The peony patch is popping. You can pick up the bouquet on the farm, at Peak Scents in Flagstaff, or choose delivery to Verde Valley. Order window is short, we begin picking flowers on Thursday!
